We invite you to join us! Meetings are held monthly, September - May (not December), the third Thursday of the month at the Farmington Hills Public Library, 32737 West 12 Mile Rd., Farmington Hills. The library is on the south side of 12 Mile Rd. between Orchard Lake and Farmington Roads. A social hour begins at 12 noon, with the meeting starting at 12:30 p.m. Programs feature outstanding speakers from the United States, Canada and abroad for programs and workshops. Programs include slide lectures or mini workshops about weaving, spinning, dyeing, felting, basketry, beading, papermaking and all forms of fiber arts. Several workshops are held each year. MWG has been active since 1947 and is affiliated with the Michigan League of Handweavers and the Handweavers Guild of America. Members participate in several exhibitions and sales each year. Please plan on attending, as the luncheon and fashion show are always a lot of fun! Don't forget that we will also hold our annual "Moth Market" of any fiber related tools, books, etc. that you might like to part with. Ten percent of the proceeds go to the Guild. Fashion Show In addition to our regular luncheon and fashion show, member Sally Erickson will present a short program about a dye workshop she attended in Tucson in April. Sally will share her experiences in working with natural and plant dyes in a 2-1/2 day workshop with Jane Hoffman. This was part of the "Fibers Through Time" Conference. Sally has pictures and samples to show, and stories to tell about her experiences there. |
